our Story
Handmade in Alberta. Inspired by Ukrainian Heritage
Silver Bends began in 2017 with a love of creating and a small collection of handmade jewelry and crochet pieces. We started by attending local markets under a pop-up tent, slowly building our business one customer and one event at a time.
In 2018, my husband Joel joined me, bringing his talent for wood burning and sign making. Today, Silver Bends is truly a family business. I design and create our Ukrainian gifts, crochet dolls, jewelry, and sublimated keepsakes, while Joel hand-burns each of our wooden signs.
During the pandemic, I found myself drawn more deeply to my Ukrainian roots. My grandparents came to Canada from Ukraine, and creating gifts inspired by the culture, traditions, and symbols I grew up with gave Silver Bends a new purpose.
What began as a small market business has grown into a collection of meaningful Ukrainian gifts made for families across Canada and the United States. Our work has taken us to Ukrainian festivals and community events across Alberta, where we have had the privilege of meeting customers, hearing their stories, and seeing our creations become part of their family celebrations.
Every piece we make is created with care. Whether it is a crocheted doll, a Ukrainian keepsake, or one of Joel’s hand-burned signs, we hope it brings a sense of connection—to family, heritage, tradition, or home.
Thank you for supporting our small Canadian family business.
